Family Portraits
Students are asked to research a characteristic, such as eye color, hair color or hairy feet, within their families. Students are required to research their grandparents, parents and siblings, but many students also include their aunts, uncles, cousins and great grandparents. The students use Lovely Charts to build a pedigree implementing the same standards that scientists use in the "real world". After they build the pedigree, they use a 4-Step process to analyze the pedigree. Here are a few samples of their work:
