Chemical PropertiesThese are properties that are unique to each element. Under certain conditions, atoms can react to produce a new substance or compound.
Atoms can be combined with other atoms to produce a new substance. For example, if you take 2 Hydrogen atoms and 1 Oxygen atom, you produce a new substance: H20...or WATER! Viewing rust on a piece of iron is another example. Iron is usually a metallic or silver color, but when it is placed with oxygen...changes can begin to occur.
